~Back Story~

 

Claire grew up on the outskirts of Jackson Mississippi. Her parents had a large farm, the kind you would see in movies. Tons of animals and wheat for miles. She always had a love for animals. Claire was an only child and was really only friends with the animals on the farm. She was always a quiet girl and never really spoke to anyone, until high school that was. 

 

That was when she met Derek. Her dad had hired him to help around the farm. Feeding the animals and what not. He was the first boy that ever paid attention to her. Of course she was shy at first. Not saying much to him. He new the way to a ladies heart though. He brought her flowers, took her fishing, movies and dinner. He was a complete gentleman. 

 

Naturally daddy didn't like the boy coming around to court his daughter. But Claire was head over heels in love with him. Despite her daddies wishes she would continue to date Derek all through high school. Furthering her fathers hate for Derek, Claire marries him right out of high school. At 18 and 19 they eloped. They didn't tell her parents their plans, but naturally parents have a way of figuring things out. He was clearly upset, as was her mother, but the accept it. They let Derek move in to their home. 

 

Claire thought her life was perfect. Living on the farm with all of the animals. She was happily married. Her parents were civil with her husband. Little did she know this was all about to change. A year has gone by now and the world was turning to chaos. 

 

Claire was in the barn with her husband when they first discovered the outbreak. A very sick looking person wandered in behind them. The person was making some very strange sounds. It was clear something wasn't right when the being attacked them. Derek followed his instincts, grabbing a baseball bat he beats the person. After the beating Claire and her husband run inside pretty shaken up. They explain to her parents what just happened. Of course her parents had the news on. It was explaining the outbreak. Claire's mother tells her to go to town to get supplies. 

 

When Claire finally returns Derek tells her that her parents left without them. That they would meet in New Mexico. So off they went, they loaded up their truck with the supplies and headed that direction. It took some time but they made it. They waited for a week. Her parents never showed. Finally Claire was under the impression they were dead, that she would never see them again. They had to keep moving the world was getting worse and worse by the day. More walkers popping up. 

 

Claire and Derek decide to head to the coast towards California. They figured finding a boat and being on water would be safer than exploring around the mainland. It took them a while to walk from New Mexico to the coast. Two years to be exact. During their adventures they hear about a town called Arklay a supposed Safe Haven. Derek and Claire decide to make their way there.
